Accessibility
We want this archive to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced-motion settings.

What we have done
- Core controls can be operated by keyboard and include visible focus states
- Images include alternative text
- Archive records provide written descriptions or transcripts
- The site respects reduced-motion preferences
- The collection can be browsed through the archive index instead of the visual study
Known limitations
We would rather identify these than claim the experience is finished.
- The homepage study is visual and exploratory. Every featured object should also remain available through the archive index.
- Some images are deliberately aged or low contrast. Their record text provides the important information in writing.
- Some documents are presented as images. Each published document should include a transcript; a missing transcript is a fault.
The standard we aim for
WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The website has not yet received an independent accessibility audit. This statement currently reflects internal testing and will be revised after final responsive and accessibility checks.
